Back to uni on Thursday D: Aghh. Then I get work laid upon me again. Fortunately I have a bit of buffer to keep me going. My last year of education... Kind of scary. Trying not to think about what happens after that.

The bugs weren't chasing after Atty because of the squished Caterpie, no... It's all something to do with what Thad and Trix were on about before, when they were stood under that big tree full of beedrills. That weren't just for decoration...

To anyone not all too into Pokemon, Sweet Scent is a move that, when used outside of battle, makes a pokemon come out and start a fight with you. To anyone far too into Pokemon who's about to tell me that Butterfree's can only use Sweet Scent when taught with a TM which I only found by looking up last minute, Pshhh. They SHOULD be able to use it, they're frikkin' Butterfrees. Not as bad as what moves the show decided pokemon could do, though... I remember as a child, my frustration when Ash would tell Pikachu to use Earthquake or something and it would work.

See y'all soon.

You're in the Future! It says you posted this two hours in the future from where I am. And instead of thinking of the logical reason I assumed you had a time machine. And I was jealous. Pretty awesome though.

That's why they're chasing him?!
September 12th, 2011, 6:01 pm
I'm a little confused about what they're doing. But I think I'll get it in upcoming pages. (edit: oh, is the plan to make pokemon pick fights with anyone around?)

By the way, a few minutes ago, I thought it'd be neat if a Pokemon fancomic had rating stars of pokeballs, and would show random pokemon inside the balls when someone hovers over them. And I thought of your comic. ...and then you updated? O_o

I have memories of Ash yelling "Go!" and Pikachu just...ramming things. What's that supposed to be?!
September 12th, 2011, 6:10 pm
@Ultima527: The worst I remember DISTINCTLY from years ago, is seeing Ash order Pikachu to grab onto a Dragonite's antenna thingies and not let go. I remember shouting RIP OUT IT'S ANTENNA THINGIES IS NOT AN ATTACK!! HAVE YOU PLAYED THE GAME?! Weird how these things stick with us.

Or the infamous "Aim for the horn!" Where Pikachu can electrocute a Ground type Rhydon because... yeah he aimed for the horn.

Don't forget "Dodge it Pikachu!" in response to Swift. -_-

&Rhydon even has the Lightning Rod ability in later games D:

Ash have a Gameshark. >.>

Anyway great comic and the only non-HM moves that I remember that can be used outside of battle was Dig and Teleport. I honestly learn something new today but then again I not the type to use status effects.

Random... Random encounters. That makes so much more sense that when I was reading it as ransom encounters. I was trying to figure out how many people were in the forest at the same time that they could ransom.. it wasn't working. T-T

WTF Pikachu!? The things that electric rat did were absolutely stupid. The worst one by far was not actually aim for the horn though. The worst was in Hoenn, the last season before they decided to play by the damn rules. They were fighting against these gym leaders in a double battle, and Ash had Pikachu use thunderbolt on his team mate, which was a flying type. It gave the FLYING type some sort of bullshit magic armor. And didn't damage it at all. Worst logic ever. They didn't even try to explain that one, they just said "Screw you, it's pokemon, deal with it."

please don't have a guy appear out of nowhere to help charmander burn all the pokemon back to normal. cause I don't whant to see charmander evolve this soon.

ooohhhh that explains the bug horde ... & the caterpie

that seems like an evil plan to attract every pkmn in the plannet

don't get me started on Ash and Pikachu's very first battle against Brock the Gym Leader.

Really? Just cause you get the giant rock snake wet doesn't mean thundershock is going to suddenly be more effective. And taking out the Geodudes? Honestly? Rock's are immune to electricity! It won't even take away 1hp. ><

(on side note, I no longer want DT to evolve. I love him as is. T_T *still want a raichu, though*)

An anecodal response!
H0lyhandgrenade to Ultima527: The worst I remember DISTINCTLY from years ago, is seeing Ash order Pikachu to grab onto a Dragonite's antenna thingies and not let go. I remember shouting RIP OUT IT'S ANTENNA THINGIES IS NOT AN ATTACK!! HAVE YOU PLAYED THE GAME?! Weird how these things stick with us.
@H0lyhandgrenade: You forgot other wonderful notions of the show. "Pikachu, dodge it!" (that's also a move >.>#), or bar-b-quing an Onix JUST because it was wet, or the fact that Ash actually cared enough about pikachu to not evolve it to beat the Onix (personally, I'd just shove damn rock in it's mouth and say "deal with it, vermin"), or the fact that Ash lets ALL his pokemon go at SOME point, because he cares about them.

It's not about the show, it's about Ash, he's just a grade-A retarded trainer, is all. He doesn't deserve ANY of the pokemon he has.

And to answer your "Have you played the game?!" shout, I can only quote Yu-Gi-Oh abridged:
Foe: How did you play a trap card on MY turn?!
Pharoh: it's called "cheating" get used to it!
(Ash must've also been a gameshark user, explains why he started with a pikachu rather than one of the starters, and yet later found one of EACH starter in the WILD! And I believe the show came out AFTER Red and Blue so it's not like he started in Yellow, he was just a hacker!)

... Huff huff... long winded post.
September 13th, 2011, 12:52 am
I think its hilarious that Ash could go up against ANY pokemon and have Pikachu just kick its ass...I swear Pikachu is level 5 billion!!

Ash: "Bulasaur! Use Whirlwind to blow the sleep powder away!"

September 13th, 2011, 4:54 am
@Blue_Shayde: Actually rock types aren't immune to electricity. It's NORMALLY EFFECTIVE against them. But yeah, many (too many) rock types are also ground types (to make them even more vulnerable against water and grass wtf?), and Onix and Geodude are ground types too, so yeah. It was cheating.
September 13th, 2011, 5:14 am

It always ticked me off as a kid when ever they did those things in a show.
Or when tail wip or sand attack actually did damage. Why didnt they make it do that in the game?! >.>
I believe their pokemon also knew more than four moves. Ripoff...
September 13th, 2011, 9:23 am
Except for a lv 5 Snivy O.o
September 13th, 2011, 12:38 pm
@HOly The series had much worse than that. That's something a small rodent might do. The tail springboard manouver on the other hand... While we're at it, is that not one of the episodes where Ash (or someone else at random every so often) uses the ground to absorb electric attacks, which somehow still work on other grounded pokemon, including that one most other times? Or one of the trainers who did that in the first pokemon league who then has a syther split into three weaker but solid sythers using double team. If that had been in the game everyone would have taught it to all their pokemon. Finally, worst of all, the “I know you should have fainted three direct hits ago, but you can dodge this attack that's hit you every other time, even though your badly hurt, and then counter attack for the win through the Power of Friendship!” Extra fail if the pokemon is clearly supposed to be one 5hp tackle away from loosing and uses a powerful move with 1/4 recoil. /rant
Back to why we're all here, there's a perfectly good explanation for sweet smell. She's a pokemon thief. Making her targets fight lots of random battles both weakens them and lets her see what they're carrying at the moment. Or she stole a bunch of TMs recently. Or she stole them from people who had taught it already.

i just love how this 10 year old kid has seen every legendary pokemon, beaten like every gym leader, and pretty much saved the world a billion times. and nobody questions why a 10 year old is the only one to be able to accomplish this. and also, somehow, ash isnt famous either.
September 13th, 2011, 5:14 pm
The most outrageous shit ive ever seen as far as pokemon with miss-matching moves- was a gyradose in pokemon stadium that knew how to FLY. WHAT THE FUCK?!? HOW CAN IT FLY!?!? and then theres this one pokemon who HAS WINGS but CANT FLY in the original games- im pretty sure its charizard. THATS JUST DUMB. FUCK YOU POKEMONZ.

SWAG Swag. Your comic has swag. This shiz-nit is smooth as butt-ah, and hilarious. Go SWEET-SCENT! ...Gawd, I used to hate that move :3

On that note, I really want to know what lvl Ash's Pikachu is by now. <_<

And where they get the meat they eat in the anime. =P
September 14th, 2011, 2:40 am
@mosama: I believe Gyradose is a flying type... so he might be able to learn it?

But the worst case is Pikachu learning volt tackle, something you have to do intense breading schemes to get in the far as I know anyway.
September 14th, 2011, 5:34 pm
Ridiculous moves in game Not sure if it has been mentioned - skimmed through the comments but in game you CAN get a pikachu to learn surf and fly. This is from a special event for yellow or some sort, but you see on the yellow version intro pikachu on a surfboard and flying with balloons. I doubt the series sunk that low.

It had the Lightning Rod ability because it was immune to electric type attacks. I hated going against them in double battle, electric pokemon were useless because their attacks always went to them.

Lighting-Rod My Seaking has Lighting-rod(from DW)and I love it. If I use Thunderbolt it will hit Seaking, but if I use Discharge, all adjecent pokemon will be targeted.

Hax is Clear It is clear to see that Ash hax'd in his Pikachu for the anime. Possibly giving it totally illegal stats too in the process...
Stravagante (Guest)

I know some stuff @mosama:
Charizard can learn Fly as it happens. The classic example (and I believe the one you were referring to) is Scyther. There are a couple comics around the tubes of a protagonist trying to fly on his Scyther, upset to find he cannot only to look into the sky to see his rival on the diminished Spearow.

Yeah, I don't know either.

Ash is indeed hacking, volt armor, aim-for-the-horn, special-not-physical etc.
Are we going to see any non-Kanto pokemon in this comic perchance? There's no real reason why there aren't herds of Mareep after all.
I love the comic, don't often comment etc.
Oh; and... Eevees. Aren't they adorable?
RRC (Guest)

On a completely different note... Eh, Thad and Trix are team rocket; they probably ripped off some TM super store and sequentially taught it to all of their butterfrees...after screaming at each other for stealing a ridculous amount of the same rather useless TM.
Thad: "Sweet Scent? SWEET SCENT!? WHAT THE **** KIND OF TM IS THAT?!?!"
RRC (Guest)
September 15th, 2011, 2:40 pm
O.o @Tinythersa: This could take a while... how much are you unaware of?

About sweet scent however-- this is the name of a move you can teach your pokemon. Most moves are used in battle, but this one is a specialty move you can use to attract wild pokemon when you’re walking around to battle or capture.

I mentioned previously that it is a rather useless move---actually, it CAN be used in battle to lower a foe’s evasiveness, and I have used it to win on a couple of occasions (very useful against opponents whose main strength is their high Speed stats), but over all, it just doesn’t has as much impact as, say, Burn Blast, Psychic, Sleeping Powder, or Fly…

@Stravagante: Charizard couldn't learn fly during Gen I. I'm not sure if it was corrected in Yellow or GS.
September 16th, 2011, 12:29 am
Eh, How dyou know they didn't happen to have those TMs onhand? =P

They are from Johto after all.
September 16th, 2011, 12:59 am
Yes, gyarados was always flying type and could learn fly. Lance's could be K.O.ed by a joltion using thunderbolt if you raised it to the massively difficult to acheave level of 29.
Aerodactyl was a flying rock. That still had enough lift to carry you.
Hurricane Scrambles (Guest)
September 16th, 2011, 9:57 am
Actually.. ..Aerodactyl isn't a flying rock. It's 100% previously extinct dinosaur. Just for some reason, almost every pokemon to be revived from a fossil retains the type Rock and it's strengths and weaknesses. I don't know why.
September 16th, 2011, 12:11 pm
@ Guy who mentioned Ash VS Brock Actually, no, Rock is not immune to Electric attacks. GROUND is. Geodude and Onix are both Rock/Ground types, thus they are not effected. Against a normal Rock type, like for example Nosepass, an Electric attack won' be very effective, but it'll still do damage.
September 16th, 2011, 12:13 pm
On Another Note Charizard is strangely just a plain Fire type in Red and Blue, the Flying sub-type is added from Yellow and onwards, incidently.
September 17th, 2011, 2:34 pm
Rock isn't resistant to electric. If you used an electric attack on Nosepass it would hit for neutral damage(x1)
