@contradiction123: There's only been very subtle hints as to why so far, but as Moo Moo pointed out a couple of pages back, this isn't the first time he's shown concern for his backpack.

Backpack ideas? Well im thinking its somthing fragile because in the backpack seane from ch 3 it got banged around a lot and he was worried about it. A box with somthing in it? A little figure? somthing he would prefer to keep privet i would think. I like to think its a music box :) but probably not :P

To be fair, the backpack was closer to the bugs. You don't want to have to stop and then accelerate again twice while fleeing. Also - Holy hell those bugs are slow. Are they just wedged between the trees 3 stooges style or what?

@everyone About the bugs moving - just because time passes in real life doesn't give them more than a few seconds of movement in comic time. Please stop complaining.
In other, non life-threatening situations, asking an exhausted person why they still haven't recovered from falling flat on their face would be considered rude. As it is Atty's going to have to think of another way to get rid of George.
I see a “What's in the bag that's so important readers get exited oh crap um the yellow rat thing I caught earlier ah OK damn you George can't you see the lies?!” moment in the not-to-distant future. Despite the fact I think this post makes less sense than it should I'm to lazy to think of a better way to put it.

Atty's mom kicked him out at fourteen, for being a couple years behind. It's easy to forget since he acts like a cynical twenty something prat, but he and George are probably in the same age group.
I'm also interested in why the hero started his journey "late" at 14...caring for his sister, maybe?
