I thought twice about the horrific scenes I coulda posted in this section and actually toned it down. Which might sound suprising I guess xD But I didn't feel right trying to squeeze a heartwrenching scene out of a bunch of dead insects... I dunno. I think it's grim enough as it is.
Reply kennelofdog, 01 Nov 2012 06:20 pm
and that is why you don't choose charmander
Reply SassyThePokemonLover, 01 Nov 2012 06:22 pm
There's probably going to be some bug imports from Johto.
well, that's depressing. very well drawn, but depressing. Not sure what I was expecting though.
awww those poor bugs, i wonder how misty would act
@Blitz3124: I don't know. She might still freak out on them.
Reply Millie Griffin, 01 Nov 2012 06:33 pm
You know, those beedrill look pretty cute...when they're dead. XD
Reply The_mad_one, 01 Nov 2012 06:48 pm
Now for the important stuff. What are beedrill stingers worth nowadays?
Reply Sign Seeker7, 01 Nov 2012 06:55 pm
[Hopeful] Chances are good most of them fainted. Pokemon have taken worse before. Poison, thunder, holy wrath, that sort of thing.
DON'T WORRY, THEY'RE NOT DEAD,
Reply jalek13 (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 07:05 pm
I have a feeling that one of those bugs was Georges....
Reply jess56476 (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 07:06 pm
Aww George don't think of them as DEAD, they just don't have any trainers to rush them to a Pokemon Center. Nothing a good Revive can't do.
that reminds me... How did DT not evolve yet? Dt burned down an entire forest of bugs! that's like 30-165 exp a pop!
Reply andwhyisit (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 07:20 pm
@jess56476: Pikachus aren't exactly fire resistant.
Reply andwhyisit (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 07:32 pm
@Sign Seeker7: While Pokemon don't die in normal gameplay (for obvious reasons), Pokemon have been known to die in the games (Marowak in gen 1, the cemeteries in gens 1 and 3, and a few pokedex entries indicate this), don't kid yourself.
Reply FormOf_SomeGuy (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 07:32 pm
Burning Sensations! No really, how has DT not evolved? Based on chapter 4 page 61 - no wait, forget the swarm shot. Based on this first look of the carnage AND the swarm shot, I won't be surprised if she completely skips charmeleon and warp digi<gets slapped by all the hardcore digimon fans reading this oh wait>
I've never felt so bad about killing an insect in my life...
Reply Eightywight (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 07:48 pm
Grimm I totally forgot about the fire and how well... if the pokemon got caught in it, they would be dead.
Reply NotSoHappyCamper (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 09:01 pm
@crazybob Burning down the forest didn't help DT evolve because, in the words of Gimli, "That still only counts as one!"
Reply Pencil Artisan (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 09:03 pm
Why DT hasn't evolved
Because she only actually killed that one beedril, and the panicked bug did the rest. Therefore she only got Exp for One Pokemon even though because of her actions the whole forest burnt down.
Reply Sign Seeker7, 01 Nov 2012 09:07 pm
@andwhyisit: [Dry] I am very aware of that. My point was not that they couldn't die, but rather that they are capable of surviving so much punishment that just being on fire isn't as impressive.
Reply Thanatos-Zero, 01 Nov 2012 09:23 pm
I hear it.
The wind of death is howling...
Reply DT_Fan (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 09:36 pm
It intruigues me what kind of horrid scenes you had in mind :p Neat detail on that first panel with the Butterfree stuck on the tree. Now I'm actually curious about what will DT and Rat's reactions will be when sighting this scene... I don't recall Atty returning them to their balls, but I don't see them around either...
Reply Flannigan (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 09:48 pm
Well handgrenade, along with my world's tiniest viola we can make a finger duet.
I swear I didn't get what the second panel was until examinating it three times. Sometimes we're so accustomed to see the pokemon in one perspective, that we miss how it should look from another point of view.
Gimme back my violin! I've always wondered where it went to.
@Millie Griffin: yeah when they're not trying to kill you XD
Reply BritMattison, 01 Nov 2012 11:26 pm
It's not like it was completely his fault.
Reply Pierce (Guest), 01 Nov 2012 11:38 pm
The fact that the bugs are recognizable instead of charred flesh makes me think that one Nurse Joy is all it would take to get those Pokemon back on their feet.
Reply EHeroAndrew, 02 Nov 2012 01:43 am
Its the Bug Pokemon Apocalypse...
Reply Zitronenbaum, 02 Nov 2012 02:33 am
According to pokemon logic they only fainted. :D
Reply chaos-of-vinnie, 02 Nov 2012 03:58 am
Aw man this is sad!! :(
Reply Masami (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 06:22 am
Not really sure what George was expecting
RSPCP Someone call the RSPCP; Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Pokemon.
So sad... ._.
Not sure what I was expecting... @Pandapal: deaddove.jpg
Reply Greedo (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 09:41 am
Well... on the bright side DT got exp from all of that.... Right?
Reply Some Guy (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 11:08 am
Someone's going to need a lot of revives.
Reply kurik (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 11:13 am
How the hell is DT not evloved yet???
Reply Osha (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 11:50 am
Level up Eh, with all of these Pokémon Dragonthing killed in that forest, you'd think she would've evolved already.
Reply hellfire14, 02 Nov 2012 01:09 pm
...YOU MANIACS! YOU BURNED IT ALL UP! DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALLLL TO HELLLL!
Reply Sapphire Shaddix (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 01:47 pm
Was that the Caterpie that was always trailing behind the rest? Poor little guy...
:U I feel bad for the Caterpie and Butterfree since they're adorable...not so much for the Weedles =3=...little buggers keep poisoning my team....
You know I have a really hard time believing this sort of thing hasn't happened before.
those little buggers deserved it they are so annoying you can't walk in tall grass without them appearing(in the game)
Reply Onix (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 03:41 pm
I don't see dead Kakunas or Metapods (Pikachus either thou)
Reply Martakus (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 04:57 pm
What could anybody possibly add to such a touching page?
Don't worry, they're just 'fainted'
Reply Mika-Chan (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 06:10 pm
Don't worry, George. I'd be upset, too.
Reply Dr_Black (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 06:52 pm

Reply beepboopiamrobot (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 07:33 pm
Hey, with all those kills, shouldn't DT's EXP be through the roof?
Reply HeroesAndCons (Guest), 02 Nov 2012 09:13 pm
I can't wait for the trek through Mt Moon. Seriously, with your amazing art style it is going to be very exciting to see what you do with the dungeons of the game XD

the bright side maybe we'll get to see some ghost pokemon now?

I would say if you toned it up i might not have felt sorry for them all..... the only bug pokemon i liked from the original's was Butterfree was a total b*tch to lvl it too. at least when you have a pikachu that can't harm Rock/Ground and had to figure out an alternative to beat the first gym leader. Mankey or Butterfree.... and I hope all the posters haven't had any troubles from Hurricane Sandy, and if so I am sorry for w/e happened. same to you Author/Artist.
Atticus: "Here I am playing the world's smallest violin." Look, I'm playing it so fast that smoke is coming out of my hands.

Reply Humanplague (Guest), 03 Nov 2012 07:19 pm
You know, you have a real sick sense of humor. I'm not complaining or anything, just pointing it out, since I find this rather amusing myself.
You know what, this actually makes sense, cuz in the original GSC, Viridian forest was like... nothing. XD
Reply ChaosSorceror Davidicus (Guest), 03 Nov 2012 09:11 pm
And this is why I would be a bad guy in the world of pokemon.
Bugs are useless, weak to my favorite element: Fire, they DARE to think they are worthy of a legendary (they are not), and are effectively useless (bug MOVES are pretty useful, bug type pokemon are a waste of space).

Reply teh_fish (Guest), 04 Nov 2012 09:58 am
@ChaosSorceror Davidicus: Bugs are the most successful creatures in terms of evolution; they survive anything. They make up over 95% of the animal kingdom and they'll be the prime candidates to survive a nuclear fallout (not just cockroaches). They were once much, much larger in the past and only shrank to their current size due to their tracheal mechanism for absorbing and distributing oxygen.
When You See It.......... /THIS/ is why in the original G/S/C, there's no actual forest of Viridian Forest. Because Atty burnt it down.
Reply Roach (Guest), 04 Nov 2012 05:26 pm
@teh_fish: thank you for supporting this. I myself am a bug trainer and breeder, and hope-to-be future bug gym leader in a small clan of mine. I find that bugs are very versatile, and even RU rated ones can play in the OU tier. My armaldo is beast. every bug you mentioned are ones I use, and they rock it.
Reply Ito (Guest), 04 Nov 2012 06:58 pm
"yuor MOM grahglflgleagle!" - some ten year old @Roach: ho ho, I beleive I got something more to his speed. "your mom is a useless bug pokemon LOL". that'll show 'im! 'cuz there are no bad pokmon just bad trainers! (I mean there has to be some moral lesson to it all, right?)
w.s.v come in packs i put them in a line on sample silds so wean i pat them togeter they play well and you dont lose it (lost of the pack in the wind )

@xyamakunx: Thats what I was thinking. I wonder if the 2nd gen pokemon have already started moving in =p
Reply imakitty (Guest), 05 Nov 2012 04:26 pm
I read this whole webcomic up to here today, I can't wait for more c:
This is so depressing D:
@andwhyisit: They aren't fire resistant, but they probably wouldn't be in as much terrible shape that the bug Pokemon would be in.
Wouldn't all the pokemon that weren't attacking them have run? Humans can only enter/leave through the doors but pokemon can move through the trees just fine. Non-coccoon pokemon, anyway.
