It's all just a matter of perspective, really.

Happy extra update! Thankyou for your support =) Y'know, I think speed was used wrong in the games, personally... It always seemed a bit of a small deal to me, who could attack first, to be given a whole stat. I prefer the idea that it'd improve dodging and hitting much more. A Scyther shouldn't be as likely to be hit as a Snorlax... But maybe that's just me.

See y'all soon.

Avalanche Bob isn't looking too, how you say, steady there. At least from those swirling eyes.

Not to be a super pokemon geek, but in Gen 1 speed actually was factored into your chance of landing a critical hit. Low vs high you were pretty unfavoured, but high vs low you were almost always guaranteed to strike strong. This made pokes like the rats, Dodrio and Scyther insanely strong, considering the ability to learn speed-boosting moves.

PP stalling won't work, that guy's got 20 PP on that attack alone.

Damn you Holy, raising our hopes, suggesting that maybe DT could possibly win. But I'm wise to your tricks.

C'mon Avalanche Bob. Crack under the pressure.

Also I know it's far in the future, but I hope Atticus evolves Rat. George would be so against it, it'd be delicious.

Ahah, is she just going to keep avoiding his attacks until he resorts to Struggle and knocks himself out? That'd be pretty clever, and not too bad of a strategy.

Strongly agree with your opinion on Speed stat too, I think combining it, or at least making it equal with other "sub-stats" such as Evasion and Accuracy would have been much better, no doubt.
I always wondered why Confusion wasn't a "true" status condition too, and why pokemon couldn't get more than one at once, such as being poisoned and paralyzed, and asleep...and so on. Hn.
Awesome page~ love the dynamic movements and action shots.

Slam has pretty low accuracy anyways, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, if it's a stall game DT's going for, I'm guessing she'll remember her match with SerialSlasher and try to inflict a burn.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that DT was training right before this battle, and they didn't stop at the poke center before the gym?

Yes... Running away won't grant him victory. However! THIS IS POKEMON!!! A just evolved MC's pokemon by rules CANNOT lose the next battle! Take that, Steim!

And then, when Bob's too angry to think straight, DT dodges next to Elle. *SLAM* And then, next to George. *SLAM* Then to Stein. *SLAM* Then back to George again!

And when it's all over Atty will leave wearing his jumper and the biggest grin ever.

Anime vs Game Ah the wonderful world of stand still and smack each other vs sprinkler systems. The factors that the "reality" of battles provides the trainers was always so much more then we were allowed in the games, like environment, high ground, and ingenuity. I always wanted a Venusaur to Vine Whip rocks and trees and hurl them at the enemy.

Silly restrictions @a: Indeed, but I don't understand would Rock throw be something different then "Hey Venusaur, toss that debris that way!" It just seemed silly to me the first time I remember playing that I couldn't do things like that. I mean how much easier would Cubones be to beat if you turned their helmet around?

your not alone Holy, I've always thought speed was a wasted stat but giving bonus to hit and dodge would be really over powered with things like speed boost. I would like to see speed boost abilities like agility do something diffrent, on the other hand it's only used by the computers I fight so maybe not.

Don't get me wrong - I agree with you :) It's just that modeling such complex behaviour and vast possibilities into a game is difficult. I also think that there shouldn't be HM moves. Bird Pokemon should be able to fly by default and do that during battles, water Pokemon should be able to swim(who came up with the name "surf") and Pokemon with big enough attack stat should be able to move boulders. And how can fire Pokemon battle on water? Are they standing on the Pokemon you're surfing on?
And many many more :D

Hold on HM! @a: I actually disagree about HM moves, sure any bird pokémon should be able to fly around... but what about carry children in the air? Surely that would require some training to make sure they're safe? Same with Surf... though maybe it's called Surf as it's the trainer who needs the training too? In-order to SURF on the pokémon's back? :3

Seepd tends to be a big deal in high levels, since pokemons tend to be KOed in 1-2 moves at these levels... Also, if you switch to a slow pokemon, you give 2 turns in a row for your opponent to attack.

Many moons ago, Speed was more effective than "who goes first", but that was waaaay back in the RBY era. Higher base speed = higher critical rates. Used to be Critical hit rate = Base speed 8 100/512 = your odds of criticals.

So Dragonthing is a red pokemon with a spike on her head and for some reason she's suddenly become three times faster.

Once Atticus gets offed she'll probably start calling herself Lizardo and don a pair of snazzy sunglasses.
