Probably a good job Bob was interrupted then. He mighta been about to frikkin' eat her or something. Imagine that as an end for the chapter. ... I suppose it's not impossible...
I think it's just me, but I swear DT looks surprised at the very bottom; like she didn't expect her attack to work that well. That or Bob is being over-dramatic.
... So I guess this is what the games always mean by
CRITICAL HIT!
Ahah, this was so beyond epic, all of the action and expressions. Great job!
Hope Dragonthing's tail flame is okay though, I don't know how it could still be burning after that.
Neat work with the panels. Also, good use of perspectives since the last page. DT's face doesn't look half bad in that 2nd and 6th panel :P I'm kinda concerned about that first panel though... It would almost seem as if it had crushed those bones =/ Otherwise I don't think a tail would look like a stretchy toy.
Ahhh, gotta love the anime/manga mechanics. In the games it wouldn't work like that, but with an artist calling the shots, aiming for vulnerable areas like the eyes or inside the mouth and such are viable victory strategies. ( i.e. see 'Pikachu's Sprinkler Pewter Gym' win)
Love it!
What the hell? Dragonthing should be dead. Onix totally just put out its tail flame. Though that's probably the dumbest and most recognizable stipulation in all of Pokemon, and I wouldn't put it past the author if he decided to disregard it.
@-_-: oh go troll elsewhere, this arc is taking it's natural time to complete. It's not gunna be rushed just because idiots like you want it to.Just enjoy the god damn comic and quit your whining.
Tail Flame@GoogerGeiger: Oh holy cow, you're totally right about that tail flame. Considering that the few rules H0ly seems to like to keep from the games are the gruesome or life-threatening ones, I'm surprised she didn't address it.
Tail fireThe best explanation I heard of how the tail fires work is that they represent the healthiness of the pokemon, rather than keeping it alive:
If the pokemon is healthy, the flame burns bright. If it's very sick, the flame will diminish, and it goes out as the pokemon dies. Extinguishing the flame externally doesn't harm the pokemon at all, it just reignites when it's able to.
That's probably a fan-theory, but it makes a whole lot more sense than "Extraneous external fire got smothered? DEAD"
I need someone to help me make a comicI have started making scripts so am not that good but the thing is i cant draw my drawings are horible and i wanna make a comic about pokemon nibecraft or two gaming friends please help me someone
1) Onix aren't completely round. There's going to be air under there somewhere.
2) Obviously the next course of action was the Tail Fire heating up the rock and causing instant removal of Rock Tail from Fire Tail.
.. and then I realised that Onix probably don't have the same pain receptors as mammals, considering they're made out of rock.
So I have no idea what the next course of action will be, so flaming the eyes is a good start!
Also.. One Onix. Two Onixs.. Onixes.. Two Onix. Hmmm.
Aladin!but...if rock thing eats her, then he can't win her for Elle! and then she'd break up with Stein...and he'd be sad...and forfeit the match and that would not be fun
Tail Fire@GoogerGeiger:
Technically, the tail fire thing is only in Charmander's Pokedex entry. it may not affect Charmeleons and Charizards in the same way.
From the FireRed entry:
Charmander: From the time it is born, a flame burns at the tip of its tail. Its life would end if the flame were to go out.
No Pokedex entries of Charmeleon or Charizard state that their fire is their life force.
@FireIceLighting: That's because the lenght of the Pokedex entries are very limited. It's pointless to write the same thing as their previous forms. The tail flames of both Charmeleon and Charizard still burn more intensely when angered, and burn weakly when weakened (do watch the Charizard chills and Charizific Island episodes if you want some proof).
On that note, I'm also on the side that believes that it's the life force that determines the strength of the fire, and not the other way around. Thus, while an unlit tail would mean that the pokemon's life has ended, putting out the fire would not kill the pokemon itself (although it could weaken it if you consider it as a weak spot... kinda like the saiyan tails from Dragon Ball...)
I think what people fail to realize here is that clearly, Dragonthing did a LOT of training after evolving.
That's clearly Flamethrower. DT is at least L31 (if it learned it before evolving). Which put DT dangerously close to jumping to that third-stage of Charizardness at 36ish...
@Kelloe: If you go by the anime, the first episode where it shows charmander (its raining and cold) I believe the person with ash tell him if the tail fire goes out the pokemon would die.
@Guest: naw it's ember. H0ly said that we'd know it it was flamethrower, and this clearly is not flamethrower. Moreover, in RBY, charmeleon does not learn flamethrower until 42.
One thing I'd like to see implemented in the games (one that you use well) is targeting specific areas of the body. There was a Hoenn episode (don't remember which one) that included a Camerupt, where hitting its face would deal extra damage but cause it to go berserk. Adding a target feature would make the games feel more alive, at least for me.
