Yeah, bide always seemed pretty useless because usually I could KO them before they hit back. Time to pour it on!

Looks like Atticus believes DT can K.O. Bob before it can unleash Bide.

Seems like Atty's learning after all, he may even become a good trainer one day, not matter how much he protests.
How it should go:
DT used growl
DT used growl
Bob unleashed the energy - but it failed
And then proceed to start burning the Bob's health down again.

Great page. I like the 6th panel, combined with the creative page design.

Best way to get around Bide is to use non-damaging status moves such as Tail Whip and Sand Attack until it says "The foe's BOB unleashed energy! But it failed!"

I've always wondered what the inside of an Onix was like. :P I highly doubt there's a true digestive track in that thing. You'd just be stuck in a hollowed out string of rocks.

Does Atty have another potion hidden up his sleeve? This would be brilliant time to use one.

Atticus WILL be the next Pokemon master @Jolt99: he has taught his Pokemon to battle without him, as far as i'm concerned the only trainer who could possibly surpass him is someone who has taught their Pokemon five moves.
I mean, how much more mastering can you do after that.

The thing about bide is... well what if the pokemon decided to heal the bider. Then the bider will have to heal them back but by double.

Trainer Super Abilities So I'm wondering if we might get any. Physchics like Sabrina who can throw people around is fine but I kinda mean like in the Pokemon Adventures with Lance. For anyone who hasn't read it, Lance's ability is that he has trained his Dragons to be able to change which direction Hyper Beam flies so that it is not just a straight line, but can bend around corners and follow moving targets.

BIDE.

Curse @Guest: Curse only cuts your HP in half if you are a Ghost-type. Any other type lose 1 combat stage of speed, and gains 1 combat stage of both attack and defense.

Edit: also not 100% sure but I think if you try curse as a ghost when the target is already under the effects it fails/misses and you do not lose your hp since the attack was not successful.

Bide again? Why is he using bide again? It's obvious Oynx isn't going to be able to take the onslaught, been huff for awhile now.

In all honesty, DT should just all out attack if Bob is that tired. Though, Atty probably doesn't know that. DT might be smart enough to think of it though!

Not really... @Ultimate the Hedgehog: Bide factors in points of action, not points of damage. using a 5th gen move like heal pulse will, in 5th gen, not effect bide. If it existed in 3rd gen, however, heal pulse would cause bide to do double the points healed as damage. This is because, in gen IV and earlier, bide only factors action points, rather than differentiating between healing and damage.

heh I continue to find the helpful suggestions from the peanut galley hilarious. DT likely doesn't know tactics yet... in any case, it just sparks debate over which gen is being used as the model, which we've all been told already

^_^ It's like going to a horror movie and shouting 'he's behind you!'

Atty has two options: he could inflict as much damage as possible and switch to Rat when Bob unleashes his energy so DT is spared the damage, or he could use leer until Bob's defense is so low a Magikarp could splash him to death.

given more thought.... I seem to remember a little trick with bide and substitute in gen 1. you could lay out a substitute, and then use bide. any damage the substitute takes will be reflected double. the use of leftovers made this one of my favorite strategies. The nostalgia is getting to me. I need to get a GB emulator and play through red again.

Why does Bob not use any Rock attacks?
yello (Guest)
April 12th, 2013, 6:48 pm

@teh_fish: in gen 1, onix doesn't learn rock throw until level 19. Mind you, it learns slam at level 33 and doesn't learn bide at all, so there you go. My guess is, mokepon simply doesn't play by normal rules, considering DT's fire attacks haven't been given a name lately.

@Icalasari: Yeah, started playing through again. I had forgotten that bide was TM 34. Maybe this will mean that Atty will get Bide as a gift for winning? That seems to be how it works.
