What, what?? If the main character gotta faint as soon as they lose, why shouldn't everyone else? Makes sense...

See y'all soon.

First

Edit:

Anyway, we finally get to see the wake of destruction Pokemon trainers leave behind as they battle their way to the top. It's beautiful.

They must all be really traumatised by losing if they faint because of it.

Missed the last two updates D: (spared you some complaining on the cover anyways :P) The money just bursting out of them is just brilliant, though xD Great last panel.

Implications. Man, passing out alone in a field is pretty dangerous.I can't begin to imagine all the trouble that leads too; It's just a matter of time wait until the one youngster who wandered away for a bathroom break comes back and doodles things on them with a sharpie about his top tier Rattata.

So THAT's why they never move from their place on the route, even after they lose.

That makes a lot more sense than them just standing there and not taking their pokemon the center, actually.

larceny ... Am I the only one whose first thought about that last panel was all the potions, pokeballs and stat items that could be stolen from the passed out opponents? and the money. early on, I was always short of cash

Psychic connection to their pokemon? Some all powerful creature knocking them out when they lose? Its kind of funny and frightening to see so many people faint considering that his own rival didn't faint when his where knocked out... which the battle didn't happen near this town. (Insert overpowered pokemon foreshadowing here)

Hmmm Maybe there is some kind of psychic or emotional link that forms when a trainer bonds with his/her pokemon. When the trainer's pokemon all faint, the mental shock from the disconnection is so severe that it causes an acute stress reaction, hence why the trainers faint like that.

Just a thought!

Simple It's because they have mastered both mind and body. They have gotten used to the emotional shock of losing the connection, and are able to withstand the sudden loss now.

@Raxis:
You really can. My brother beat the original Blue version his first time with a level 100 Charizard and the rest of his team a random set of level 20- and 30-somethings he rarely used. I think his moveset was something like Fly, Flamethrower, Slash, and Fire Blast.
He didn't know about type-balancing a team or any of that stuff... he just figured out that a lv100 Slash or Flamethrower attack will cream almost anything.

@Rubberbandninja: A attack level 82 or will level anything. I know this because I beat the original Blue with just one Pokemon, my Charizard, with a moveset of Body Slam, Dig, Flamethrower and Fly.

You can do it with Charizard solo, but the first two gyms are rough. It's a little easier to solo gold/silver with Typhlosion because there's not such an uphill fight at the beginning.

Of course, Atty has that Pikachu... if he actually tried using it for anything other than bait and switch tactics.

@Vinviro: Not really that hard. All you really have to do is grind and over-level early, and if the Pewter City gym is a breeze (Ember does wonders here, and growl for when the enemy is Biding), then by the time you get to Cerulean, you'll be over-leveled to the point where the Water pokemon won't even really be a challenge, because your Charmander will have both the speed, strength and HP advantage to beat down the water Pokemon with Scratches.

Hmm....y'know, now that I think about it, the trainers you face don't actually faint. And in the newer versions, it just says 'you run to the pokemon center, protecting your fainting pokemon' or something similarly dramatic. Oh well, that's just me nitpicking.
