No he's really dead folks. Fortunately we've got Thad and Trix to continue the adventure.

*Drums fingers* What.

Incidentally, self destruct and explosion are the most likely results of Metronome. Lil' gits. And splash? I think? But my memory is fuzzy. Forget this.

See y'all soon.

Meh, I'm okay with those two replacing Atty.

He made bad nicknames anyways.

Poor Atticus.
September 26th, 2013, 6:45 pm
I've always had issues with that "random" move. I swear, the strongest thing I ever got out of it was Metal Claw. My opponents? I can't count the number of times a lil' Clefairy has suddenly released a hyper beam on me.

What a prime opportunity to take his pokemon!

Also, I HAVE seen Metronome result in Waterfall in Pokemon Blue. Only once though. I didn't even know they HAD it in the first games!

@Ultimate the Hedgehog: Poor Atticus? Poor Dragonthing. She's practically stuck now, and nobody knows to go looking for them.

Alternatively, Atticus will wake up in Kahn's house... again...

@varsaigen - A Dinner: Yeah, only Goldeen could learn Waterfall in gen 1, that's why nobody knows about that.

True story- I was trying to train my Clefable in Pokémon Tower in FireRed, and I only used Metronome. Never saw it come up with so many Normal moves, Fighting moves, Ground moves, and poison-inducing moves in my life. It did call up Sky Attack, but unfortunately, the Gastly got off a Confuse Ray on the charge-up turn, and Clefable hurt itself on the next turn.

On the other hand, my Togepi secured me my victory against Bugsy in HeartGold by KOing his Scyther with a Metronome'd Sacred Fire. :)

Since We're All Sharing... I remember mostly getting Legendary-only moves, especially Sacred Fire in Silver. I think it may have evened out in later gens, though (I mean, aren't we all just applying our biases?)

Atty, conscious or not, you have to stop running into these guys. It's likely to become a serial event if you don't! What do you think this is? A Saturday morning cartoon show?
September 26th, 2013, 7:57 pm
I once had Metronome result in Spacial Rend.

...Fitting how Clefaries are said to come from the moon, seeing how crazy they are....
September 26th, 2013, 8:35 pm
@BattleStarX: When I had my togetic use metronome soul silver, it usually used judgement, and then it said the move failed.
September 26th, 2013, 9:30 pm
@Knightkirby: What pokemon were you facing?

And while we're saying Metronome events, the first attack that my Togepi (now a Togetic) in HeartGold Metronome'd was Dark Void. It mostly used status-causing attacks, now that I think of it...

I fought a Clefairy once while using my Pidgeotto. Since it was a Nuzlocke I was saying to myself, "Please, for the love of god, dont use Thunderbolt".

So I got what I wanted...since she used Rock Wrecker instead. You know, the rock type hyper beam.

All I ever get out of it is Self Destruct while I fight something that resists normal type attacks.
September 26th, 2013, 9:45 pm
Zap Cannon and Guillotine seem to be favorite results of my pokemon using Metronome
September 26th, 2013, 9:54 pm
Atty has fainted!

Choose new Trainer? Y/N?
September 26th, 2013, 10:04 pm
@BattleStarX: I know the feeling. I was taught all my pokemon a bunch of confuse and infatuation attacks at the same time because they all kept being used on me, and every single time, I couldn't attack back. Then when I actually used those times...I swear.. the other pokemon that got hit would attack ANYWAY. Every attack succeeded despite it being 'confused' and it never hit itself. I don't think not one single time it succeeded. I was so mad that i replaced all of the attacks with different TM's just to get rid of it...

I believe the term is:
Atticus blacked out.
September 27th, 2013, 12:04 am
@BattleStarX: If I recall correctly, the first time my Togepi used Metronome used mother****** Sacred Fire! Sadly that set my expectations too high
September 27th, 2013, 1:58 am
I remember using metronome once and it resulted in perish song. Thanks, togepi, no pressure then...

honestly, I always replaced metronome asap. I hate random moves like that, because they rarely ever help. feel the same about HP sacrificing moves... in any game.

Metronome definitely isn't as random as it's made out to be. Every time I make a Metronome team, I get the same move twice in a row at least once a day.
September 27th, 2013, 6:22 am
Once my lvl 5 togepi was all i had left while fighting a gym battle. It won through charm and metronome when the opponent was lvl 20. I will never again underestimate that goddamned move.

Funny, I've never had gotten self destruct or explosion when doing metronome. It was always some status changing move or splash.

little jerks, always plotting against me.

@BattleStarX: Well, I can swear once my Togepi used Ho-Oh's signature move from metronome. ONCE.
September 27th, 2013, 10:41 am
You know that rope doesn't look very strong or even fastened very well. Anyone climbing that is bound to fall again.

Which also brings up the point, who decided, with all their technology, to not put a path and stairs in any of those caves? We're left with the occasional unsupported ladder or HOLES to drop down. Usually with a boulder that must weight half a ton.
September 27th, 2013, 12:33 pm
Hey...they were supposed to steal his Pikachu! :/ The hell kinda Team Rocket are these guys? They has to stealz tha Pikachuuu~ o3o)~
September 27th, 2013, 2:09 pm
@BattleStarX: This happened to me in Gale of Darkness.
Opponent used Sunny Day!
Clefairy used Metronome!
(I hope it's Sacred Fire)
Clefairy used Sacred Fire!
Clefairy's attack missed!
Followed by:
Oh, no, Clefairy won't survive next turn. Better hope for a tie.
Clefairy used Metronome!
(C'mon Explosion.)
Clefairy used Explosion!
Opponent's mons fainted.
Clefairy fainted.
I swear this actually all happened in one game

One time my Togetic Metronomed a Transform. I had to fight as a god damn Stunky for the rest of that battle.
September 27th, 2013, 4:31 pm
In the anime I swear all the clefairy got when using metronome was self destruct.

Misty's togepi used metronome quite frequently, but all it did was teleport, hyper beam, and one time, splash.

Dung my battles using a togepi, it ended up using a status changing move 90% of the time and sometimes used something useful like metal claw.

BUT! But he jsut bought a magiKarp! I need to see his rage when he finds out its useless! OR BETTER I need to see it splash attack him often in discontent for its owners attitude or something like that when pokemon bothered James from team rocket!!! we need a sour pokemon to but heads against atty!

Metronome topics are interesting These topics are in a way quite interesting since you notice that about 10% of the posts make obvious lies. A typical example would be claiming that Metronome selected an invalid move like, Sketch or itself.

Really makes you wonder how much bragging on the net is simple bull*.

I was actually referencing a meme that I guess wasn't as well known as I thought. It has a fake screenshot of a Smeargle using Metronome which becomes Metronome which becomes Copycat which becomes Metronome which becomes Metronome which becomes Explosion.

@RedMattis: Either that, or people honestly believe what they say. Memories do tend to become inaccurate over time, especially when talking about a game some of us played over ten years ago. (Though I do agree it's better to check facts before posting, when possible).

Have I ever told you this, Holy? I named my new Ibizan Hound puppy Atticus after Brent, here. And now it's kind of weird reading the name, lol. (Also have gotten TONS of compliment on the name Atticus - apparently it is an excellent dog name.)
September 29th, 2013, 11:54 pm
Great detail on the last panel, nice use of shading.
September 30th, 2013, 8:30 am
@RedMattis: Sure it can. The old games were kind of glitchy
September 30th, 2013, 3:42 pm
My friend once used metronome... and it ended up being memento. Sure, the opponent's attack stat fell two levels, but his Hypno fainted as a result.

Lol that face, he looks like his mind just broke and then gave up XD

Most memorable moment for me. Silver, lvl 13 Togepi vs lvl 20 Krabby.

Spam metronome, get a heal when health went red, then win battle with Togepi :D

My Mew kept using Happy Hour.
It said everyone was caught up in the excitement or something.
Nothing else ever happened, and it doesn't tell you what Happy Hour does in the guides as far as I know.
And my Togepis, they just spam Lunar Dance =-='
