Oops, don't worry about my hand after lettering TOO much xD I was mostly joking.

As for my grammar... I don't know how much of England it covers, but at least the northern part where I'm from, 'I was stood' and 'I was sat' and such things are simply ways of saying 'I was standing' and 'I was sitting'. Very commonly used. Just a dialect thing.

See y'all soon.

I'm right there with ya George :(
August 18th, 2014, 5:53 pm
Abra! So am I!

Ps: She needs a Quick Ball!
August 18th, 2014, 5:56 pm
I didn't think the "I've been stood here" was that hard to get but idk

Oh, that dialect thing makes sense. I just didn't know.

Also, want an Abra, George? You're going to be there all day if your luck is anything like mine.

It's like George wants to capture all of the popular pokemon and always fails.
August 18th, 2014, 5:59 pm
I like her nose.

It would've been cool if she got an Abra.

@H0lyhandgrenade: Don't worry, I've got your back when it comes to being a grammar Nazi. Correcting people is my specialty, as long as it benefits them.
I just hope nobody throws a tantrum about being corrected. Social prejudice sucks, guys!

@sonics1030: Too bad Kanto doesn't seem to be blessed with such things just yet. Unless any foreign shipment comes in for the Rockets.

@Graham: It's like she actually wants a good Pokémon this time, though.

@thegreatawsum1: I like her Abra.

It seems like George's hood is back up again, though. It's a shame, I liked it down. Her hair was absolutely fab(ulous).

I caught an abra once Wanna know how?

@Doutonbori Robo: And I, unlike many people, actually not only am alright with, but like being corrected. I am always happy to know if I am mistaken.

To be fair, though, she looks kind of awesome with her hood up when drawn like this.
August 18th, 2014, 6:18 pm
Oh yeah, I remember trying to catch those annoying things before abilities. RNG hates us all.

August 18th, 2014, 6:21 pm
@troblsomtwins829: I like to delude myself into thinking that pressing certain combinations of buttons helps the catch rate increase. I know it doesn't work, but I like the reassurance.

@AFeralFurry: Thank you for being a pal. Much obliged.

Just let Atty catch it.

He's a natural.

Atty should still have a couple of Ultra Balls, right? He should try catching an Abra.

If I were an Abra. I'd telekinetically tie her shoe laces together.

if only you had a Pikachu with thunder wave to paralyze or a Jigglypuff with sing to put it to sleep
Doutonbori Robo
August 18th, 2014, 11:35 pm
@ZDW: The first one would likely be more effective. It's better than a Jigglypuff, which either wouldn't be able to keep up with an Abra, or would only hit with Sing roughly half the time with Sing's accuracy rate at a measly 55. A Pikachu's speed would at least allow it to possibly land a Thunder Wave before Abra's Teleport could happen. But at that point I'd just suggest another option altogether.

Speed is Key Just catch a caterpie in what is now the ashes of Viridian Forest and raise it to be a really quick butterfree. You can just use sleep powder on them before they teleport

What you do to catch an Abra is:

A. Keep throwing pokeballs at it.
B. Be smart and use some status moves, such as: sing, stun spore, sleep powder, thundershock, etc.
August 19th, 2014, 2:58 am
@H0lyhandgrenade I am northern so I can confirm such sayings are in fact common. Lived in London for 3 years and I can't say I heard a preference to either 'was stood' or 'was standing'

Now I'm going to have to change my headcanon and have Atty speaking in a northern accent. As a Londoner, this amuses me.

why do pokebals ALWAYS fall on the ground with the red part on top? It's just a Ball....
Wyld (Guest)
August 19th, 2014, 11:32 am
pokeball orientation @Guest: Pokeballs were ergonomically designed to fall white side down, because the red is indicative of where the pokemon's "up" would be oriented...

you wouldn't want to drop your pokeballs for the night and wake up the next morning to find your pokemon all blacked out cuz they were hanging upsidedown all night long, do you? that would be pokemon cruelty! (as if making them kill each other is not cruel enough)
AFeralFurry (Guest)
August 19th, 2014, 11:55 am
@Wyld: And that is why I am a loyal member of Team Plasma. :P

Though yeah, I do imagine that Poke Balls are just designed to fall that way.

Yeah I had no issues with the dialect. Pretty similar to how a lot of slang is here in the midwest/south.
Doutonbori Robo
August 19th, 2014, 8:20 pm
The whole conflict with the word "stood" just seems ludicrous. There's no reason to consider it slang, and it's not an issue with dialects. The issue is that people don't adequately understand words and their usage. To be fair, dictionaries don't do well to describe the usage of that specific word, but as I said before, when used in the context that it was, it's technically a substitution for the word "stationed", as if the person were not standing there of their own will.

I may just be taking it for granted, but it's very difficult for me to believe that there could be an issue revolving around that in the first place.
AFeralFurry (Guest)
August 19th, 2014, 8:42 pm
@Doutonbori Robo: This is just me, so it really doesn't apply to everyone, but I had not heard stood in that context before. I would be willing to assume that those of us considering it incorrect before were simply used to the more common use of stood as in "I stood over there".

But, as I have said, I now stand corrected. I simply had not known, and will not make the same error.
August 19th, 2014, 9:37 pm
It's nice seeing these dialects quietly slip in. Gives a subtle bit of character.

August 19th, 2014, 9:45 pm
disclaimer @Doutonbori Robo: and @Rengeki: I am not a pro at Pokémon to some peoples disbelief. I don't know all the moves of all the Pokémon and where you catch them they are just the ones I could remember with moves that could help from before this point in the game
August 19th, 2014, 9:45 pm

Heh For a second there I thought that Abra was Mew in the third panel. That would have been ridiculous, though - I doubt George even knows about Mew.

Just watch, Atty is gonna accidently catch an abra now
Doutonbori Robo
August 20th, 2014, 1:19 am
@ZDW: I understand that people don't quite remember everything from the Pokémon games. I just have an extremely good memory with games that I've spent even a little time with.

At this point, the best Pokémon to use to catch an Abra would in fact be a Butterfree with Sleep Powder. It's the only Pokémon up to that point with an effective sleep move and the speed to back it up. Jigglypuff's much too slow for the task. A Paras would take too much time to learn Spore (Level 27, provided you skip it's evolution for three levels), and it'd have to have an extremely solid Speed stat as well, just to keep up with a really slow Abra. At that point your only other option besides a Butterfree would be a freshly evolved Gloom, or maybe one leveled a bit past the point it evolved (Level 21).

If you're going from George's route that takes you through Diglett's Tunnel, you could stop off to the right of it's exit and catch a Drowzee, but you'd still have to level even that a decent amount to keep it on par with an Abra. You'd probably even want to evolve it at Level 26 if your Drowzee seems like a slow one.

But let's just be honest, all of that for an Abra is just too much work.

Silly little catching rituals @Doutonbori Robo: I used to mash A in time to the ball shaking. In fact I still do.
Which is probably why my DS doesn't work anymore.

I bet Abra infested areas end up looking like a grassy ball pit after a while.

Abra is lucky he can teleport. It probably would'nt have felt very good to get hit in the nose with a small metal ball. Team Plasma would be furious with you, George.

Livin' in a pokemon world I wonder if catching pokemon would be motivation enough to have larger numbers of people practicing the ability to throw accurately?
August 23rd, 2014, 7:24 am
@Doutonbori Robo:
I used to throw pokeballs at them until I caught one but the way you would do it sounds better. xD
