OMFG I died. That was too funny.
Hero of Comedy
August 25th, 2014, 5:31 pm
How does that even happen?
August 25th, 2014, 5:35 pm
@Hero of Comedy: I can think of 5 Pokemon off the top of my head that have razor sharp appendages and a poor temper. You do the math.

I forget where the bandage was from though...

Eep Atticus's reaction in the sixth panel was exactly my reaction ·_·

I can't believe how funny I found that. Probably because it was so unexpected. I can only imagine Rat bandaged himself up and is just accepting he has a hanging appendage now.

For some reason I read Atticus' lines here in Zack Fair's voice.

That only made the ear thing funnier.

Just wait until Atty next goes to a Pokemon Center. That'll be awkward...

the bandage.. @Hero of Comedy: appeared chapter 6 page 8 after the first gym fight..

Rat appeared a bit earlier in this chapter but the bandage wasn't defined at all..
August 25th, 2014, 5:56 pm
Yeaaaaaaah, let's leave that alone Atticus.
August 25th, 2014, 5:58 pm
@ChainleeZ: I didn't really find it funny. I find it sad. Poor thing.

Rat is mutilated, not sure if funny.
August 25th, 2014, 6:13 pm
I love how surprised rat is to have been noticed for once
August 25th, 2014, 6:25 pm
I always wonder what happens if a Pokemon lose a limb or an item (a wild Kadabra's spoon for example). I always kinda assumed Pokecenters set them back to a "default" point where they were well. Same for Pokeballs but to a lesser degree. Wild Pokemon just use their natural abilities to fix as much as they can and have amazing healing/survival skills. My headcanon is that Kadabra use his physic powers to bend natural metal to make a new spoon for example.

@RandomFurry: I could ask the same, y'know. :P

As for why not, there's a reason, it's just boring and stupid, so I won't bother stating it.

But, I probably will soon. As in, roughly two months soon.

But Atticus answered, "No more of this!" And he touched the rat's ear and healed it.

Then Atticus said to the Rocket captains, and their numerous grunts, and the scientists in their employ, who had come for him, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with zubat and rattata? Every day I was with you in the Rocket Headquarters, and you did not battle me. But this is your hour-when biblical references reign.

atty should have done a nosebleed right about there...
plus, it would be hilarious if it came off in the middle of a fight.

@gothaman1: it's part of Rat's signature move don'cha know? The Pika Pin! He simply charges up and up and up... And then his left ear shoots off like a rocket, carrying a large amount of charge and pointiness!
It also has a high chance of causing Confusion.

Holy Helix O.O

Maybe he should get some potions...

Well, look at the bright side. Now Atticus' Pikachu has a defining feature, much like most Pikachus owned by trainers. How lovely.

I'd probably eat the ear if it fell off. Just to make the poor thing sad. And then I'd call him delicious.

I love you Rat. HOO-HOO.

Unless I'm mistaken, Rat lost that ear when Stein's Onix flattened it in their first battle. Not quite sure how that worked, because the ear was still intact after Rat was flattened. Maybe when Atty blacked out, Stein cut it off and reattached it for no reason? I dunno...
August 26th, 2014, 12:27 am
Haha, don't worry, it'll grow back XD

Also, I'm wondering if Atty's going to find mew two's cave early since he's already stuffing up the traditional path

Okay, that ending killed me!
It's also interesting to see that Atty-kun is somewhat nice to all of his team for once

Atticus, damnit, its not wise to have magikarp out and not feed him. Well, as long as he doesn't kick it.

This makes no sense... Rat's been to the Pokémon Center (where they presumably bandaged him up) and Nurse Joy said nothing about Rat's ear frickin' falling off. This is nothing more than H0ly wanting to prove once again how cruel she can be to her characters.
Mjoern (Guest)
August 26th, 2014, 11:29 am
What happened? @Merrsharr: I think NOthing, Rat didn't get his ear cut in the fight nor (at least I hope) by Nurse Joy.. It's just comic relief, it's supposed to be funny, you have to realize that's been several years Holy draw Rat with that bandage, I suppose she just though that would be funny and decided to make a whole page for it because she loves to make us wait years for any subsequent plot advancement..

Pokemon Meat @Doutonbori Robo: I don't think it's edible for Human consumption, I mean even Tauros, it can breath fire, blizzard and use Toxic! (yes), it's not magic it's something about their biology, and their blood, their skin, their muscles are adaptated to the kind of strain some moves can inflict to their body..
I doubt we could digest any pokemon meat and it would most certainly be pretty poisonous..

@AFeralFurry: Tasty, nutritious Slowpoke Tails. I'm not aware of any other instances, though.

@Mjoern: Granted, Normal-Type Pokémon often CAN learn a variety of different-type attacks. Many Normal-Types and Nidoking/queen. Toxic can be learned by almost ANY Pokémon. There are only 17 Pokémon that can't learn Toxic by any means. I could list them, but that'd be no fun.

I'll do it anyway. The only Pokémon that can't learn Toxic are: Caterpie, Metapod, Weedle, Kakuna, Magikarp, Ditto, Unown, Wobbuffet, Wynaut, Wurmple, Silcoon, Cascoon, Beldum, Kriketot, Burmy, Combee and Tynamo.
AFeralFurry (Guest)
August 26th, 2014, 5:35 pm
@Doutonbori Robo: I love Toxic so much. It's always handy having it on at least one team member.

And yeah, Slowpoke tails are a thing. Cutting their tails off is apparently nonlethal, though.

Didn't Ash have a hamburger obsession early on, too?
Doutonbori Robo
August 26th, 2014, 6:10 pm
@AFeralFurry: I'm not sure, but at some points in the games and anime, there are remarks made that makes it apparent that normal animals like dogs and other things are around too. They're just never seen. So the hamburgers could be made from a kosher beef supply.

Slowpokes don't seem to have any nerves in their tails. They can be lopped off as many times as they want, because they just keep growing back.
I don't think the fact that Pokémon use certain moves would make them unedible, due to the fact that Slowpokes can learn Toxic.

The gradual incline in poison damage makes Toxic very useful when paired with a Pokémon that learns Recover, or something of the sort. I'd definitely use it with a Shuckle, due to the fact that Shuckle has the top Defensive and Special Defensive abilities in the game, with an overwhelming base Defense and Sp. Defense both at 230. Shuckles can also learn Rest, so there's that.
AFeralFurry (Guest)
August 26th, 2014, 6:18 pm
@Doutonbori Robo: Yeah, they mention actual continents, as well. I always found that strange, until I learned that Kanto is based off of Japan's Kanto region, and therefore, the original games were something of a fantasy Japan.

Slowpoke don't seem to feel much pain at all. I find the mental image of a Slowpoke farm devoted to tail chopping kind of interesting, actually.

Hmm, maybe I'll try Shuckle sometime. I find those crazy high defenses somewhat nice, and Toxic is a team wrecker.

Oh, healing moves. I love them so much.
Doutonbori Robo
August 26th, 2014, 6:39 pm
@AFeralFurry: Slowpoke do feel pain, just not much with their tails. They have a 5 second delay when it comes to nerves reacting to the pain, however.

The problem with Shuckle is that his other stats, HP, Attack, Special Attack, and Speed are obnoxiously low. So it's more of a Pokémon you'd use in a dysfunctional team. One that wins fights through unconventional means. It's HP isn't as much of a problem due to the fact that it's so defensive, but it's still a slight liability. In gen IV, Shuckle can learn Power Split to swap it's Defense with it's Attack to turn it into a form of "Glass Cannon", and in Gen V, it can learn Shell Smash to lower it's Defense and Special Defense by one level each, while raising Attack, Sp. Attack and Speed by two levels, or it can learn Power Split to even it's Attack with the opponent's, drastically reducing their Attack while doing the opposite to it's own.

It's definitely an interesting Pokémon.
August 26th, 2014, 6:43 pm
@AFeralFurry: Check Izzikat's Dark Gold sometime the slowpoke well in that is a more furnished operation
AFeralFurry (Guest)
August 26th, 2014, 6:47 pm
@Doutonbori Robo: Hmm, layers of mindgames. I guess I underestimated its usefulness, as well as how interesting it would be to use. I'll most likely attempt to acquire one, sometime. Even if I have to brave the GTS.

I'll admit, I'm not a great battler, but I do try to learn whenever I can. Thank you for the information.

@Guest: Dark Gold? Can't say I've heard of it. What is it, out of curiosity?

@Hero of Comedy:
I blame Nurse Joy. Or some incompetent caregiver...

Ch.5p.43 - Rat's ear is intact. Is smashed by gym leader's Onix
Ch.6Cover_art - Rat's ear is bandaged, foreshadowing of things to come.
Ch.6p.2 - Rat's ear is still whole, unbandaged (albeit this is fuzzy evidence, so moving on...)
Ch.6p.7 - DECISIVE EVIDENCE: drawing is clear, there is NO bandage!
Ch.6p.8 - Rat suddennly gains bandaged ear?!?!!
(Subsequent pages) - Rat now has trademarked bandage look.

Although, I guess the other theory of Kahn being a bastard, cutting off Rat's ear (accidentally) while Atty wasn't looking and doing an emergency bandage repair is also totally possible... wouldn't put it past him. Hey, that's why he left an Oddish behind, isn't it?

Evolution of Slowpoke's Tails and human dietary habits @Doutonbori Robo: Slowpoke's tails are pretty special : they can trigger their evolution when in contact with a shellder element (maybe it has to do with the king rock, I think the shellder evo line products King rocks), the shellder is then trapped as long as the host lives (and most likeely only find freedom in death) and cannot reproduce while the newly evolved slowbro parasite the unfortunate Shellder to become a decently strong pokemon(because slowpokes suck) ..

What I m coming to is that it's natural selection and in the natural world, selection is nearly always the most profitable possible for both species, so the question is : is it profitable for shellder to be selected so that they are not going to bite something coming from the surface? To what I answer : I don't think so because it would greatly reduce the specie's ability to fight outside of water (yes it would and Iam deff not writing 5 pages(ok, ok lines* I still won't) to explain why)..
Nah this natural selection is all about "Do not chomp on strange, unidentifiable, pink and especially when it is extremely SOFT and emanate chemicals playing with your immature minds telling you how much not a trap at all they are"

SOFT yes, that's the important part, something soft is supposed to be weak and predators hunt what is weak to destroy it and since slowpoke's tails are a trap and are known to grow back and used as a lure, it is obvious that Slowpokes would loose way too much energy if their tails was of the same density than any pokemon body including its own (pokemon have extremly resistant body and skin, it's due to a very high density and their very light body is due to their production and storage of gazes lighter than oxygen that ideally represent their number of PP, yes they grow heavier when exhausted so that it becomes more exhausting to keep fighting, that's the law of natural capitalism : a black hole suck matter to become more dense so that it's gravity will allow it to suck more matter and so on, every specie and every natural process works like that)..
Some real life lizard use a similar body structure, with a very weak, light and low energy costing tail that fall down when got by a potential predator and grow back later, you can easily eat and digest a Gecko's tail it won't resist at all..
It's the same principle with slowpoke's tails, they are extremly weak and thus easy to digest even for Human's weak stomachs...

Now that I read myself, I realize a fair part of my speech is completely unnecessary , sorry I am an evolution nerd..

And sorry for what's coming because it's not over!
I don't think their is non-humans and non-pokemon animals in the pokemon world the other animals simply evolved throught a lambda cataclysm over a certainly very long period of time (at the very least 600k years) after mankind escaped from all that healthy and potentially (most likely) nuclear genetical selection, animals as we know them only appeared in the beginning of the franchise because of how there was only very few pokemon back then, no more "animals" since long in anything cannon, that means the current directors of the pokelore don't want non-human and non-pokemon animals in the pokeverse...

THe "MEAT" shown in the anime and movies are just graphic representation of food, any media that represent food excluding the so called "animal products" will be boycotted for vegan propaganda.. I am illustrator, I know how it works : if you draw in your book a banquet without Meat you won't get published, the image industry especially for child is sometimes absurdly conservative about its code, I think even more than most religions..

But Well Let's its not just the idea of but the real deal, well even if it looks like meat it's not necessarily actual meat..
THink about it, so far in about 800 episodes we saw : a complete lobster or two (no animal is show in late cannon and no pokemon look that much like a lobster) and some few extremly graphic and anatomically inaccurate steaks..

I think they eat fake meat because that's how their technology evolved when they were alone surviving during more than 600k years in their bumker...
