That American flag better be on Lt. Surge's Gym,I'm going to yell at you for such a huge error. Kanto is based off an area in Japan (not the actually Kanto area, but I forget exactly which one it was). Anyways, Pokemon effectively takes place in JAPAN, not America.
I'm fine with him not excepting the bribe, though. That's probably you just keeping us on our toes/doing exactly what we expected you not to do and laugh at our reactions.
@Broktus: What American Flag? I see a flag that has a similar set up to the American Flag, but is too far away for any details other than something in the corner...which is not a specifically American thing. Australia comes to mind.
And anyways.
Pokemon takes place in a FAKE country (doesn't matter what each region is based off of). So I'm assuming if you could enhance this like in Blade Runner and look closer it would be a fake flag.
As for you...@HopefulHotaru: That is not an Australian flag- there is not enough dark color to represent blue and the flag in the comic has stripes on it, so HA!
Also, I understand that web comics are the author's interpretation of the game/anime/manga/etc., but H0ly has been following the canon to the point where it's a recurring joke. If you plan to use the failed bribe against me, then know that the guards only excepted tea that's hot enough to burn the drinker's tongue.
@Broktus: Considering h0ly lives in the UK, it wouldn't even make sense to put in an American flag unless it was purposeful.
Also, while the earlier regions of Pokemon are certainly based on Japan, it's still a fictional world, and this is a webcomic author's interpretation of it. National accuracy is kind of loose, especially when you consider that these characters are supposedly speaking in an English dialect.
Pokemon unlimited @Broktus:.....its a comic dude. plus why cant pokemon take place anywhere else owo hey u can only go to japan to catch pokemon?! whaaaa lol
@Maggie: Pokemon 1 - 4 (Original through Diamon/Pearl)are regions of Japan. Black and White is based off of the US, and X/Y is supposed to be Europe in general, the major city in it being Paris.
While the Pokemon world is fictional, it's still based on real locations. Kanto and Johto in central Japan, with Hoenn in southern Japan, and Sinnoh in northern Japan. Unova is in the Manhatten area, and Kalos in the Paris area. I wouldn't be surprised if gen 7 takes place in the UK or Canada, or even Russia.
@Shadow51247: yes when pokemon is set in canada there will be many ice types. as well as a new type called maple syrup. strong against rock grass and normal. weak against bug.
To all those who used Lt. Surge against me- Yes, that is the location of the Vermillion Gym, but Lt. Surge is almost certainly not in Mokepon at all. And H0ly's Gym leaders do not have the same backgrounds/personalities as the ones in the games/anime.
Also Unova being based in the US is trues but completely irrelevant- this is Kanto, not Unova.
