Some folks saying things like I'm getting predictable... Quite mean, could start to hurt a girl's feelings, y'know.

See y'all soon.

@Codence: If this story follows the 1st generation logic, like I suspect it does, then there are no abilities yet so no Lightning Rod.

It's Really Too Bad... ... that abilities didn't exist in Gen 1.

On a sunnier note: Any plans on some Alolan Pokémon cameos?

Y'know, I'm starting to dislike Atty more and more. I mean, these are living fictional creatures, and that one is killing itself just to make him happy. Gets to be a bit much.

if only this were Alola then Atty could send out Fish and use z-splash to raise Fish's attack drastically. Then he could just spam tackle.
(low chance of Fish surviving long enough to do this and a especially low chance of Atty dancing in order to win a battle)

@H0lyhandgrenade: Just a little. Some of the time. Not a bad thing though as I see it mostly as keeping things humorous. Mokepon is a lot like Pokemon just flipped on its head. Pokemon is predictable so Mokepon is necessarily somewhat predictable itself. This is a good thing as it is handled quite well, and the semi-predictability, if anything, enhances engagement. Defying the standard Pokemon expectation is a staple of this comic: DT comes back to Atty at the last moment to beat Allie? Nope, It's Rat! DT succeeds against all odds in the water type gym in true pokemon anime fashion? Nope, Venus derps in and the crowd goes wild! Trainers are bright eyed travelers for adventure and friendship? Nope, fucking psychos, kleptomaniacs, and creepers. People are kind and accommodating? Nope, get the hell out of my house. What makes it extra engaging is predicting how the expectation will be defied. Except for those delicious and rare occasions where expectations aren't defied. Kahn Miles does a great job of playing the pokemon straight man.

Thanks for getting me to think more on the question of why Mokepon is predictable. Sorry for poking your feelings (I'm pretty sure that was in jest though).

Of course. @Venalitor: The whole schtick is "Let's apply our common sense to Pokemon universe". It isn't a new idea, but one that hasn't been deeply pursued by people with good artistic skills and storyboarding.
Most games have people born as heroes, spoon fed by destiny. People who have to defy the laws of reality to overcome all adversity! In other words, people that are are impossible to relate to!!! That is why H0ly's webcomic is so good; it is kind of like a humorous social critique of this fantasy world with inhabitants that use moon-logic.
In well written stories, there SHOULD be a level of predictability. There is a good reason why deus ex machina has the ungraceful colloquial alternate, "The Asspull".
UNPREDICTABLE means a single coin can be flipped up in the air and for two coins to land.

@Venalitor: I really liked your points, it kinda explains why Mokepon is so appealing in how it averts Pokemon traditions while also teasing out feel-good tropes we didn't know we liked (e.g. last-moment victories even when Atty may not deserve it).

Go RAT go.

I just noticed that since this is based off the first season of the anime/game, the anime had ho-oh...so it's possible for a cameo from that maybe...than again nah because atty will never get THAT lucky.

Can we just get to the part where the gym leader decides she wants to follow Atty around, and it blossoms into an awkward love triangle where there's clearly romantic tension between George, Atty and the gym leader, but Atty is much to dense (or callous) to notice it?

@HaikenEdge: I really doubt that Fish will evolve to save the day at any point. It will happen outside of major battles when you guys aren't predicting his evolution.

It would hilarious to see a Gyarados sidewards flopping behind Atty though.

@HaikenEdge:

No, Fish evolves from the Raichu's defeat (due to poisoning by Venus's last attack.) Since exp doesn't go to fainted party members (Venus & soon Rat), Fish gets every last drop of delicious exp.

@H0lyhandgrenade: In my writing I've had some people predict some fairly obvious things, as well as some things that I thought were pretty good twists. In the end, whether the story is good or not is more important than predictability.
