Hey guys! Sorry about the long wait but I'm finally recovered. Man that was a nasty time... I'd had this and the next page half done for ages but just couldn't get them finished. I'm very much hyped to be getting back to doing art again though. Thankyou for all the well wishes ^^ It meant a lot to me.

Ah'll sithee later.

Bart's Real Well, now we have in-universe confirmation Bart exists, for all those naysayers. Though, I'm impressed with the kid. He ain't even telling Atty not to steal, like George would. He's offering Atty rationale to steal, if he so chooses, and justify it. Considering he appears to be a homeless child, this grey morale makes sense.

@Riverfox237: Nah. His cold logic is exactly that. Cold logic. No enabling. He states the truth of the matter: "[Bad people] manage to justify doing terrible things all the time. To themselves, anyway" and then follows up with an example of self-justification.

@Syntras: I know, right!? His ability to engage in subtle nuances and contradictions displays a level of education and/or intelligence that phenomenal for a homeless child! (eg saying he won't give advice, yet giving it anyway; because yes, offering the analysis opposing actions and exploring potential rationales for said actions counts as offering advice.)

@Evilbob_dA: Oh I don't doubt that it's cold logic or statement of a form of truth, but that doesn't discount it as enabling. One doesn't have to be technically encouraging someone to do something in order to enable them; they simply have to be offering them some resource or reasoning that, if accepted, would enable that person to do the thing they shouldn't do. In which case, Bart's logic does exactly that. And his final lines steer out of cold logic and into suggestion of action: "Just a thought. MAYBE YOU SHOULD FOCUS ON THAT." Followed by, "AND ASK if you like some people more than you like your friend."

Bart's cold logic is sadly making him out to be less of an angel and more of a bad behavior enabler, I fear. He's basically giving Atti the reasoning of, "Hey, you know how you hate this horrible thing that was done to you? And how you have to do the exact same horrible thing to other people in order to make it STOP happening to you? Well you might feel better about it if you don't personally like them; after all, they deserve it more than you, right?"

I mean, LOGICALLY, other people doing evil things doesn't justify or require you to do evil things in return. It's like someone saying, "Oh dear, I killed your friend because you wouldn't kill this other person for me. Therefore, you killed your friend." Um no you psychopath, YOU killed them without my consent, and while I am horrified by your actions, you being a murderer + me refusing to be a murderer =/= me being a murderer by proxy.

Not at all saying this is an easy choice. This is a VERY VERY tough choice. But I really dearly hope that Atti is able to find a solution that ultimately leads to good. Just giving in and becoming a proper pokemon kidnapper (i.e. becoming exactly like Thad) is the easy way out which will also lead him down a darker and darker path that he's already realized he doesn't want to go down. I'm not sure how he could get out of this situation with everything intact, but I'd honestly like to see him try.

@Riverfox237: Yeah, there's no ambiguity here. He's the devil on Atty's shoulder. Well-reasoned and coherent, but clearly steering him toward the dark side.

Unfortunately, Atty's better angel (George) is kinda batshit crazy, so she's not gonna do much to help.

@Guest: My word you're right, Bart is the shoulder devil and George is the shoulder angel. Poor Atti is doomed. (But I have hope for George, she's the only person who's managed to stick to Atty despite his prickly standoffishness through SHEER GOODWILL! That has promise, even if that promise is encased in a bit of craziness.)

Well then, we have the young enabler here, not quiiiite telling Atty that it would be understandable and rational to steal Pokemon from others... and in comes in someone who's going to test every fiber of his being most likely. Someone worse than George.... save us all!

Oh, and I am glad to hear you are better H0ly. We're all glad to see you back and in good health.

Last-Atticus' hair has shifted again, and I'm loving it. Looking great!

I THINK BART IS TESTING HIM, TO SEE FOR HIMSELF IF ATTY REALLY IS ON THE PATH TOWARDS BECOMING A DECENT PERSON. I DOUBT HE'S AS BAD AS HE LOOKS IN THE SECOND PANEL :P IT'S TOTALLY A TEST OF CHARACTER. HE WANTS TO SEE IF ATTY WILL TAKE THE EASY PATH AND JUST STEAL TO SOLVE HIS PROBLEM RATHER THAN TRY TO FIND A THIRD OPTION! THAT LAST PART WHERE HE SAYS "TO THEMSELVES ANYWAY" IS THE BIGGEST GIVEAWAY.

From what I see about the advice given, he's not enabling Atty at all. If anything, the way he explains being bad depicts a very ugly picture in which you become emotionally numb which is not a good thing to be at all. Furthermore, I feel he's in some strange way telling Atty what his selfishness really is in one little package: he's been constantly trying to justify his bad and selfish decisions and now... it's caught up to him.

So what he's really saying either start atoning or continue to lie in the messy bed you made.

I don't think Atty is a bad deep down. If anything, his actions and even him not being so nice are the result of being a misfit his whole life and being broken for it. When I look at Atty, I see a person who does have good in him still, but he needs to find a sense of purpose to being good again and needs to take a stand against the people who can't accept him the way he is. He NEVER wanted to be a Pokemon Master or Trainer in general. That was forced down his throat and when that happens, of course he's going to choke. Now, I'm not saying it justifies him being horrible to others, but it does make you see that it's not black and white. And like I said, he's a classic case of a teenager lashing out because he feels alone. I think anyone who's been the misfit has been there and done that. I have though I didn't go down Atty's road though there was one time where I cracked and I beat up the bully who would harass me everyday.

Distracted by the Background All this deep contemplation and I'm here thinking about the background construction. Is that where the guy is using the Machop to stamp the ground? If so, kudos to the artist! Way to focus on the details for continuity.
